A review of the pilot first phase of the Energy Action Areas project with a view towards a second phase.
The first part of this Report looks at various types of ESCOs, how they have been set up by those who require the services of such an entity and the ways in which these and existing ESCOs are used. The second part of this Report looks at legislative and regulatory issues the EAA projects may face.
The London Energy Partnership's Energy Action Area initiative was proposed in the Mayor's Energy Strategy in January 2004 and launched by the Energy Minister, Malcolm Wicks, and Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, in July 2005. Barking Town Centre is one of just four areas in London to be selected by the London Energy Partnership for this status.
The London Energy Partnership is moving the energy agenda forward through a series of Energy Action Areas. These areas are places where new ideas and practices in energy can be focused to achieve real change and tackle some of the problems of energy use in urban areas.
